Patriot Flight - Program Overview

Are you a World War II veteran or do you know of one who has not been to the World War II memorial in Washington DC?  Then we are here to help!

Twice a year we send WW II veterans (free of charge) on a one day trip to see the World War II memorial.  With the assistance of the Honor Flight Network, we fly WW II veterans to DC for the day.

What to bring on each trip:

  • Any medication that you will need, either prescription or over the counter.  If it is prescription medication, please be sure to bring it in the original bottle from the pharmacy.  Depending on the medication, the TSA can require this.
  • Cash / Credit cards.  Your trip has been paid for in full.  However, if you wish to purchase souvenirs on your own, then you will need to bring cash / credit cards.
  • Photo ID for the TSA.  This can be a valid, state issued driver or non-driver id, Valid US passport, valid / current military id.
  • If you need a wheelchair or walker, please bring one with you.  We do not have these items at our disposal.  If a wheelchair is not available, you can usually sign one out from your local fraternal organization (VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, DAV, etc). If this still is not an option, please contact our offices at 518-459-2857ext. 331.  All of our buses are wheelchair equipped.
  • If the veteran requires oxygen, a prescription for the oxygen must be provided by the veteran's healthcare provider, identifying the delivery method (mask or nasal cannula), frequency (as needed or continuously), and the rate of delivery (2-3 liters per minute). Honor Flight Network will provide an FAA-approved oxygen concentrator for use during the trip if local oxygen equipment is not available. They will also provide oxygen cylinders to be used at the memorials. If an overnight stay in the D.C. area is required, we will provide an overnight concentrator for use in the hotel room. Veterans on oxygen are required to have oxygen cylinders available from their home to the departure airport and also on the return from their local airport back to their homes. No oxygen cylinders are permitted to be used on the aircraft. If the veteran requires oxygen during the trip, please call us at 518-459-2857ext. 331 to discuss arrangements.
